Your Essential Role in Fort McMurray Construction

As a Project Controls Specialist in the Fort McMurray construction sector, you are the backbone of informed decision-making. You are responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust project control systems that monitor progress, manage costs, track schedules, and analyze performance. Key Responsibilities often include:

• Integrated Project Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive project control systems, integrating cost, schedule, and progress data.
• Cost Control & Forecasting: Establish project budgets, track actual expenditures, conduct variance analysis, and generate accurate cost forecasts (EAC/ETC).
• Scheduling & Planning: Develop, update, and monitor detailed project schedules using critical path methodology. Identify potential delays and propose mitigation strategies.
• Performance Measurement: Implement Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to track and analyze project performance, providing regular reports on CPI, SPI, and overall project health.
• Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present detailed daily, weekly, and monthly project controls reports, dashboards, and executive summaries to stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends.
• Change Management: Administer the project change control process, including tracking, valuing, and incorporating changes into baseline documents.
• Risk Management Support: Identify and quantify project risks related to cost and schedule, supporting the development of contingency plans.
• Data Integrity & Systems: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data within various project controls software and ERP systems.
• Liaison: Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Construction teams, Finance, and other stakeholders to gather data and provide insights.
• Audits & Close-out: Prepare project controls documentation for internal/external audits and support project close-out activities.

Who We're Looking For: Your Essential Qualifications

To excel as a Project Controls Specialist in the complex and high-stakes Fort McMurray construction environment, you'll need advanced analytical skills and extensive practical experience:

• Education: A Post-Secondary Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field is typically required. A Post-Graduate Certificate in Project Management or Project Controls is highly valued.
• Certifications: Certification from AACE International (e.g., PSP, CCP, CEP) is highly desirable. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is a strong asset.

• Software Proficiency:

• Technical Skills: In-depth understanding of project controls methodologies, Earned Value Management (EVM), critical path analysis, and various forecasting techniques.
