Your technical skill and meticulous attention to detail will be fundamental to the seamless and safe operation of advanced industrial processes. Typical duties for an Oil Sands Pipefitter / Steamfitter include:

  • Fabrication & Assembly: Fabricate, assemble, and install various types of piping systems (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys, HDPE) using diverse methods such as cutting, threading, grooving, bending, soldering, brazing, and welding (often collaborating with Welders).
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, Isometric drawings, P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), and technical specifications to determine pipe layouts, dimensions, materials, and installation sequences.
  • System Installation: Install supports, valves, hangers, piping, and control systems, ensuring proper alignment, fit-up, and securement according to design specifications and industry codes (e.g., ASME B31.1, B31.3, CSA Z662).
  • Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on existing piping systems, including inspecting, troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing, and replacing worn or damaged components (e.g., valves, flanges, gaskets).
