Your highly specialized skills will be fundamental to the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of complex Oil Sands facilities. Typical duties for an Oil Sands B-Pressure Welder include:

• High-Pressure Welding: Perform advanced welding on various materials (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys) for pressure piping, pressure vessels, boilers, and other high-pressure components, adhering to stringent codes and specifications (e.g., ASME, CSA).
• Process Versatility: Proficiently utilize various welding processes, including but not limited to Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
• Blueprint & P&ID Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, welding procedure specifications (WPS), Isometric drawings, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to determine welding requirements, joint designs, and material specifications.
• Preparation & Fit-Up: Prepare welding surfaces by cleaning, grinding, bevelling, and positioning components. Perform precise fit-up of parts to exacting tolerances prior to welding.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure they meet specified quality standards, checking for defects such as porosity, cracks, undercut, and proper penetration. Work in conjunction with QC Inspectors.
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair existing welds, often under challenging conditions, ensuring the integrity and safety of repaired components.
