As a General Construction Labourer on Fort McMurray's large-scale industrial and commercial construction sites, you are the backbone of every project. Key Responsibilities often include:

• Site Preparation & Cleanup: Maintaining a clean and organized worksite by removing debris, sweeping, shoveling, raking, and assisting with waste management and recycling.
• Material Handling: Loading, unloading, moving, and distributing construction materials, tools, and equipment manually or with the aid of dollies, carts, or basic power tools.
• Trades Support: Assisting carpenters, pipefitters, welders, scaffolders, electricians, and other skilled tradespersons with their tasks, including fetching tools, holding materials, and preparing work areas.
• Excavation & Groundwork: Performing manual excavation, trenching, backfilling, and compaction using hand tools like shovels, picks, and rakes.
• Tool & Equipment Operation: Operating various hand and power tools safely, such as drills, grinders, cutting saws, jackhammers, and compactors, as directed.
• Spotting & Traffic Control: Providing clear signals and guidance to heavy equipment operators, and potentially directing traffic or pedestrians on and around the job site (with proper certification).
• Safety Support: Setting up and dismantling safety barricades, signage, and temporary fencing; flagging; and actively participating in daily safety meetings and hazard assessments.
• Basic Maintenance: Performing routine cleaning and basic maintenance of tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
• Confined Space/Height Work: Assisting with tasks in confined spaces or at heights as required, always under direct supervision and with appropriate safety training and PPE.
